How well do you know your competitors?

Welcome to this week's Sales Tip of the Week!


This week I have a question for you: how well do you know your competitors?

Do you know what they do, and what they offer?

There's a reason that I've asked this question, because it seems that I've been having a lot of discussions with clients this week around this factor.

The reason I ask this question of them is understanding your competitors (what they do and what they offer) is a really, really good tool of judging how you sit within the market place, your pricing structure, what your offering is and keeping that offering up to date; but also, from a point of view of when you're talking to customers, and you meet with them and they talk about going out to get quotes from people that you know are your competitors, you have a bit of an inside edge as to what they could be putting on the table.

So, this understanding your competitors is absolutely key.


It's an exercise that I absolutely recommend you do every year (or every half year if you're able to), and just look at their website, look at what they're offering - have they changed it in any way, shape or form?

What is their pricing (if you can find it out)?

It all helps you to keep your offering current, competitive, and of the now.

So that's my little challenge for you for this week: go and see what your competitors are up to. I'd be really interested to see what you come back with!
